Development of wireless system
Partner from Turkey is responsible for development of wireless measurement system for bee colony monitoring. Development of such system is not very trivial task, there are many technologies available for wireless measurements. To this moment (December, 2013) first prototype is developed for temperature and humidity measurements.
Read more to see pictures of system development process.
Start of indoor wintering
On 5 of December 20 bee colonies are placed in special wintering building (Strazdu iela 2, Jelgava, Latvia) for indoor wintering in controlled environment.
Involvement of private beekeeper
On 3 of December bee colony wired temperature measurement system was installed in one private apiary in Ozolnieki region, Brankas, Latvia.
10 colonies are involved in measurements of colony activity during winter period.
On 1 of December first prototype of WEB system for bee colonies temperature measurement monitoring is published online.
System is accessible here: http://184.108.40.206/itapic_web/Default.aspx
Now there are measurements of past winter periods, real time data of colonies of one private beekeeper (LAT_003) and in near future (LAT_001) will demonstrate measurements of colonies in wintering building.
